|---|---|---|

| lowercase | the quick brown fox | Usernames, tags, cleaning up text typed with Caps Lock on |
| Title Case | The Quick Brown Fox | Headings, product names, list items |
| Sentence case | The quick brown fox. It jumps. | Paragraphs, emails, captions |
| aLtErNaTiNg | tHe QuIcK bRoWn FoX | Jokes and memes |
Fixing text typed with Caps Lock on
If a whole paragraph came out in capitals, paste it in and choose Sentence case. Each sentence starts with a capital letter and everything else becomes lowercase, which is usually what you meant to type. Then fix any names or the word "I", since those are lowercased too.
How each conversion works
- UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter and leave numbers, symbols and spaces alone.
- Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word and lowercases the rest of it.
- Sentence case lowercases everything, then capitalizes the first letter of the text and the first letter after each period, exclamation point or question mark.
- aLtErNaTiNg switches between lower and upper case on each letter, skipping spaces and punctuation.
Frequently asked questions
What does Sentence case do with multiple sentences?
It capitalizes the first letter after the start of the text and after each ., !, or ?, and lowercases everything else — so multi-sentence paragraphs get every sentence capitalized correctly, not just the first.
What is aLtErNaTiNg case for?
It's a novelty format (sometimes called "sarcasm case" or "spongebob case") that alternates upper and lower case letter by letter — mostly used for jokes or emphasis on social media.
How do I change uppercase text to lowercase?
Paste the text into the box and click "lowercase". Every letter becomes lowercase while numbers, punctuation and spacing stay exactly as they were. Then copy the result with one click.
Does Title Case follow AP or Chicago style?
No — this Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word, including short words like "the", "of" and "and". Headline style guides usually keep those short words lowercase unless they start the title, so adjust them by hand if you are following a specific guide.
Will Sentence case keep names capitalized?
No. It lowercases everything and then capitalizes the first letter of each sentence, so names, places and the word "I" become lowercase. Re-capitalize those afterwards.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The conversion happens in your browser with JavaScript, so the text you paste never leaves your device.
